Back when I started SMD and was choosing a name, I found a definition of the word “symmetry” that really resonated with my experience as a mold designer. Harmony of parts and whole – Balanced relation of parts – Balance. To me, mold design is a balance between artistic/creative problem solving and mechanical/mathematical precision and a really great design has to find the best balance possible between the needs of the part, the tool, the process, and many other variables.
I’ve thought a logo update has been overdue for a long time now and thanks to some help from Badger Graphics in Sun Prairie, WI, I feel like this new logo is a much better representation of the idea behind the name Symmetry Mold Design.
